DIABETES AFFECTS DIFFERENT ORGANS AROUND THE BODY INCLUDING THE EYES.

The back surface of the eyes is called the retina. The small blood vessels here can be damaged in diabetes, leading to the retinal problems. These changes are referred to as diabetic retinopathy. Unfortunately extensive retinopathy can lead to blindness.
Regular sight tests are very important for diabetic patients to detect any early signs of developing diabetic retinopathy. Approximately 8 of 10 patients who have been diabetic over 10 years can develop some type of change in the eyes. Research suggested that 90% of patients with diabetic ocular changes could have prevented damage if proper treatment and monitoring was performed regularly. Therefore it is very important that you maintain regular health and ocular checks to detect early warning signs.
